Welcome Messages

Dear Sport Friends,
Dear athletes, coaches, leaders, visitors!

The world of deaf sports is not unique, but it is! It is a testament to the strength of our community that deaf sport was the first sport in the world to be organised internationally, 100 years ago, on 24 August 1924 in Paris, France. The strength of our sporting community lies in the fact that for 100 years we have ensured the highest level of international Deaf sporting life.

Thanks to the Chinese Taipei Deaf Sport Federation, Taipei will be the capital of one of our most popular sports, athletics, for two weeks! I am especially pleased that young athletes will have the opportunity to prove themselves in this very important sporting event.

For me, as a former athlete and sports leader, fair play and respect for each other are particularly important. All the more so because, as deaf athletes, we have a huge responsibility to present our deaf community to the world at large as it is:

  1. Diverse
  2. Culturally rich
  3. Valuable

and worthy of respect!

I wish everyone – whether an athlete, coach, leader or interested person – a rich experience and success at this special event!”

With very best regards,
Adam KOSA
